The Public Library

310 Des Pères Blancs Avenue

The public library was built in the 1950s in a style to complement the main building of the White Fathers’ Scholasticate. This building housed the Soeurs Antonines de Marie, a sister order of the White Fathers.

Classified as heritage property by the former city of Vanier, the two-storey structure offers a large selection of books and documents in both official languages. The space inside the library has been completely renovated to accommodate the library’s collection of books.

Vanier’s public library also stored the city’s archives from 1983 until amalgamation with Ottawa in 2001.
