The Paul-Pagé collection was acquired by donation in June 2006. Paul Pagé was the last police chief of Vanier, from 1978 to 1984. The collection includes over 3,500 photographic documents of the Vanier Police, mainly from the 1970s.
The construction of the H.M.C.S. Eastview (K665) began on August 26, 1943 at the Canadian Vickers shipyard in Montreal. The frigate was launched in Montreal on November 17, 1943 with many prominent citizens of Eastview present (more info).
The 39th company of Canadian Pontifical Zouaves was established in Eastview’s Saint-Charles parish in 1955. A national convention of Canadian Zouaves was held in Eastview in July 1958. However, most of the activities of the Zouaves disappeared from Eastview around 1975.
Demolition of the White Fathers' Scholasticate, 1977
The White Fathers' built an important scholasticate on the site of the Richelieu Park in 1938. The property of the White Fathers was bought by the City of Vanier in 1977 and the main building of the scholasticate was demolished (more info).
